About the Yellow Labidochromis

The Yellow Lab Cichlid, scientifically known as Labidochromis caeruleus, is a vibrant, popular freshwater fish, particularly sought after in African cichlid aquariums. They are characterized by their bright yellow coloration and are known for being relatively peaceful compared to other Mbuna cichlids. They are omnivorous, growing to about 4 inches in length, and are maternal mouthbrooders. 

Husbandry & Care

Temperament: Semi-Aggressive

Minimum Tank Size: 40 Gallons

Water Temperature: 75-82 °F

Water pH: 7.7-8.6

Social Group: Harem; 3-4 females per male

Diet: Omnivorous; Spirulina Flakes, Blanched Vegetables (Spinach, Zucchini). Supplement with frozen brine shrimp/bloodworms.

Compatible with: Hap Cichlids, Hardwater Rainbowfish and Tetras, Mbuna Cichlids (densely populate tank if this tank mate is chosen)
