Shipping Policy for Freshwater Fish & Aquatic Invertebrates:

  • ALL orders are shipped via UPS Next Day Service to ensure the quality of your fish and their health is optimal upon arrival. All orders are shipped directly from our partner distributor to limit travel-related stress on our fish

  • It is the customer's responsibility to track their order to ensure it is quickly retrieved upon delivery to prevent the risk of DOA instances.

  • Scholarly Exotics LLC is not responsible for effective retrieval of deliveries. If your order is not retrieved promptly and a DOA claim is sent to our email at least 2 hours after delivery, our Refund/DOA policy for live fish and aquatic life is void.

Shipping Policy for Live Terrestrial Invertebrates and Feeder Insects: 

  • All isopods produced by Scholarly Exotics LLC are shipped by UPS 2nd Day Air Shipping. Heat and cool packs are supplied as needed.

  • Feeder Insects (Dubias, Mealworms, etc) can be shipped via USPS or UPS. If USPS is selected, we strongly encourage holding your feeder insects for pickup. This is because the last leg of handling tends to increase insect mortality during transport, right before it arrives. Your insects remaining in a relatively controlled climate will ensure that they arrive to you alive and well!

  • Orders will be shipped Monday-Wednesday to ensure that they arrive by Friday that same week. 

  • Orders placed by Tuesdays at 4:00 PM EST will be shipped out the same week. 

  • Orders placed after Tuesday 4:00 PM EST will be shipped the next week

  • We will check the weather of the delivery address 3-days out to assess whether a heat or cool pack is necessary. We request the same for our customers to ensure that your orders will be received in a timely manner.

  • Scholarly Exotics reserves the right to hold orders from shipping out due to unsafe weather or conditions. We will also not ship out animals if temperatures are below 45℉ or above 85℉ for the destination address

  • If temperatures are between 45-60℉ during transit, heat packs will be included.

  • Temperatures between 75-85℉ during transit will have cool packs included.

  • It is expected that customers will retrieve their order as soon as possible once it is delivered. 

  • If the package is received and invertebrates are deceased upon receiving, contact us at our email address: scholarlyexotics@gmail.com

  • Please contact us within 3 hours of delivery for DOA claims.

Live Aquarium Plant Shipping Policy:

  • Plants are shipped out directly from our partner distributor to ensure that your plants arrive in exceptional condition.

  • Orders placed between Wednesday and Saturday are shipped out the following week.

  • Orders are received 1-3 days after shipping

  • Orders under $100 are shipped through FedEx 2-Day Shipping

  • Orders over $100 receive free shipping.

Live Terrarium & House Plant Shipping Policy:

  • Processing can take up to 5 business days and products are shipped via USPS.

  • First class shipping: arrives 4-5 days after shipping

  • Priority mail shipping: arrives 2-3 days after shipping

  • USPS Ground Shipping: arrives 10 days after shipping

  • During winter months, heat packs must be purchased and Priority Mail must be selected. We are not responsible if your order arrived deceased or damaged if these requirements are not met. If they are met and there is cold damage, please reach out the same day of arrival.

Shipping Policy for Dry Goods:

  • Any product that is not an animal, plant, or living organism can be shipped Monday-Friday. Processing and handling may take no more than 5 business days.

Scholarly Exotics DOA Policy:

Please read our Refund/Return Policy for coverage and refund eligibility under unfortunate circumstances
