About the Threadfin Acara
Acarichthys heckelii, also known as the Threadfin Acara, is a South American cichlid from the northern Amazon Basin. They are characterized by their golden-brown to beige body with darker vertical bars, and unique thread-like extensions on their dorsal and anal fins. They are known for their "eartheater" behavior, sifting through the substrate for food. Plant your aquarium accordingly as this fish will likely uproot loose stem plants.
