About the Red Peacock Cichlid
Red Peacock Cichlids are a vibrant and popular variety of African cichlid, known for their striking red coloration and active personalities. They are not a naturally occurring species, but rather a selectively bred color form of Aulonocara cichlids, often derived from the Aulonocara jacobfreibergi species. These cichlids are generally peaceful but can be territorial, especially males.

Temperament: Moderately Aggressive
Minimum Tank Size: 55 Gallons
Water Temperature: 77-84 °F
Water pH: 7.5-9.0
Social Group: 4-5 females with one male fish
Diet: Omnivorous; blanched vegetables (zucchini, spinach), live baby brine shrimp or daphnia, frozen brine shrimp/bloodworms.
Compatible with: Yellow Lab Cichlid, Red Zebra Cichlid, ideally not other Peacock Cichlids due to risk of hybridization.
