About the Red Cherry Neocaridina Shrimp
Red Cherry Shrimp are small, peaceful, freshwater aquarium crustaceans, known for their vibrant red color and easy care. They originate from Taiwan and are a selectively bred color morph of the wild Neocaridina davidi species. These dwarf shrimp grow to about 1-1.5 inches (2.5-4 cm), with females being larger and more intensely colored than males. They are excellent scavengers, excellent at cleaning algae and biofilm, and their bright red color makes them a popular and decorative choice for planted and community tanks.
We strongly advise you to keep live plants, driftwood, and botanicals with your shrimp. These materials provide additional biofilm while also providing plenty of spaces for your shrimp if you plan to house them with fish.
Water hardness is optimal to ensure Neocaridina and Caridina Shrimp thrive in your aquariums. Neocaridinas prefer a gH of 4-8° and a kH of 1-4°. TDS (total dissolved solids) should range between 150-250 ppm. If the water is too alkaline or high of a TDS, shrimp exoskeletons will be too brittle to molt out of.
