About the Colombian Zebra Pleco
The Colombian Zebra Pleco (L129) is a small (around 3 inches), reclusive freshwater fish known for its striking brown and cream or black and white stripes, resembling a zebra. Native to the Orinoco River basin, it is primarily nocturnal, preferring to hide in aquariums but becoming more active when provided with ample hiding spots like driftwood and caves. While peaceful with most community fish, it can be territorial with other plecos and requires a protein-rich diet with high-quality vegetable matter, and well-oxygenated water from a fast-moving river environment.
