They are generally peaceful and hardy, making them a good choice for community aquariums.

Diet: Omnivorous; this fish will readily consume a wide variety of foods including commercial diets, live baby brine shrimp or daphnia, frozen brine shrimp/bloodworms.
Compatible with: Peaceful community aquarium fish including many species of tetra, rasbora, catfish (Corydoradinae), plecos, loaches, and livebearers. This species will also coexist with select peaceful to semi-aggressive Anabantoids such as bettas and dwarf gourami.
