About the Endler's Livebearer

Endler's Livebearers (Poecilia wingeii) are small, colorful, and active freshwater fish, popular in home aquariums. They are known for their vibrant colors, peaceful nature, and prolific breeding. Males are smaller and more colorful than females. They are relatively easy to care for and are a good choice for both beginner and experienced hobbyists. There are many varieties and strains of this fish that are often categorized based upon the level of purity or hybridization. This species is able to crossbreed with guppies (P. reticulata) and produce viable hybrid offspring.

Endler Strains are grouped into 3 different classes:

N Class- Pure Endler genetics with wild-type origins (Black Bar, Peacock, Campoma stains)

P Class- Potentially pure genetics, wild-type appearing fish, but no confirmation or lineage to assess.

K Class- Fish with impure genetics, likely hybrids or originate from genetic contributions from guppies (Tiger, Santa Maria)
