About the Red Zebra Cichlid - Orange Blotch
The OB Zebra Cichlid, scientifically known as, Pseudotropheus estherae, is a popular African cichlid known for its vibrant, often blotched coloration, stemming from the "Orange Blotch" (OB) gene. They are a color morph of the Red Zebra Cichlid, native to Lake Malawi in Africa. These cichlids are relatively hardy and well-suited for aquariums with other Mbuna species.

Temperament: Semi-Aggressive
Minimum Tank Size: 55 Gallons
Water Temperature: 75-82 °F
Water pH: 7.6-8.8
Social Group: 3-4 females per male fish; densely stock the tank to minimize aggression
Diet: Herbivorous; Spirulina flakes, blanched vegetables (spinach, zucchini), algae. Supplement with frozen bloodworms/brine shrimp.
Compatible with: Similary sized mbuna cichlids that are not identical in patterning.
