About the Ropefish
Ropefish, also known as reedfish or snakefish, are long, slender, and eel-like freshwater fish native to West and Central Africa. They are characterized by their unique appearance, with thick, bony scales that form a reticulated pattern, and their ability to breathe both air and water thanks to a modified swim bladder. Rope fish are generally peaceful, nocturnal, and prefer to inhabit slow-moving or standing water with plenty of hiding places. This species needs a tight-fitting lid to prevent jumping, and escapes.
