About the Brick Swordtail
The Brick Swordtail (Xiphophorus hellerii) is a freshwater, livebearing fish known for its peaceful nature and vibrant colors. They are popular in community tanks and easily identified by the "sword" extension on the male's tail fin.
Because this species can get quite large in size (up to 4-5 inches in most captive specimens), it will need greater tank volumes compared to other livebearers. However, like most livebearers, Swordtails are fond of harder water parameters.
