Male Avatar Betta

An Avatar Betta is a variety of betta distinguished by its short fins, deep metallic blue-green or dark black coloration, and vibrant, iridescent scales. It is known for its rich coloration, where light reflects off its body and scales, often featuring intricate patterns, sometimes with "heart" shapes on the sides of its body. As a short-finned (Plakat) variety, it is more agile and less prone to fin damage than long-finned types.

The Domestic Betta is quite different than its wild counterparts. Many varieties of ornamental Betta splendens have genetic contributions from other closely related betta species, making them hybrids. Despite this, domestic bettas remain favorable of blackwater aquariums that are densely planted and a lot of botanicals (mimicking their ancestor's natural habitat)

Social Group: Solitary

Diet: Carnivorous; Commercial Betta Diets, Frozen Bloodworms/Brine Shrimp, Live Baby Brine Shrimp, Live Fruit Flies

• Compatible with: Peaceful community fish that do not fin-nip. Preferably fish that stay exclusive one level of the aquarium water column like Corydoras and do not look identical to your individual betta.
