About the Albino Zebra Cichlid
Albino Zebra Cichlids are a pale, often pinkish-white variation of the popular Red Zebra Cichlid (Pseudotropheus estherae) from Lake Malawi, Africa. They are characterized by their vibrant red fins (especially in males) and bright red or orange coloration, although the albino variety is distinguished by its pale body and red eyes.
These fish are active, territorial, and known for their playful personalities, making them a popular African cichlid choice for aquarists.
Husbandry & Care
Temperament: Semi-Aggressive
Minimum Tank Size: 55 Gallons, larger is preferrable for additional fish
Water Temperature: 75-82 °F
Water pH: 7.6-8.8
Social Group: Harem, one male with several females to reduce harassment
Diet: Herbivorous; Spirulina Flakes, Blanched Vegetables (Spinach, Zucchini), Nori. Supplement with frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp. This species is prone to obesity with excessive protein.
Compatible with: Similarly sized Mbuna Cichlids of similar temperament. Perfectly okay to keep a species-only aquarium as well!
